I found out 20 years ago that I have Hashimoto's Disease. I've been on levothyroxine since then and the older I get, I find symptoms of ADD have become more and more apparent. I found out from a psychiatric nurse practitioner, (friend of a friend of mine), that there are links between Hashimotos and ADHD. She suggested I see a Psychiatrist to get tested for ADHD and start medication to alleviate the following symptoms:

* I am exhausted all of the time.
* In college, It took me extra reading time to absorb content. To this day, I re-read paragraphs over and over. It's gotten worse, to the point where I basically stopped reading books.
* I forget peoples names directly after they tell me.
* I write things down now, but strangely enough, I'll start a project or chore in my home and somehow, I start doing something else! For instance, I'll be upstairs to get the laundry basket and I'll see something on the floor. I'll reach down to get it and before long, I'll start vacuuming. So now I didn't get laundry done. So, the routine begins.
* I have become very disorganized. I put off going through magazines, mail, etc. The piles continue because I never seem to find time to go through them. The strange thing is, I've been laid off since January and have all the time right now. It continues.
* My son has been diagnosed ADHD years ago
* My sister has been diagnosed 7 months ago with ADD

I'm so tired of being tired. I'm tired of not staying focused. I force myself to the gym and do get energy from it, but it fades fast. Please advise.
- Do you feel there is a link between the Hashimotos and ADHD?
-Do you prefer prescribing Vyvanse or Adderol?
