Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Girl Child Is Acting As A Boy And Dresses Up As Boy. Problem?
My grand daughter is 6 she is beautiful blonde hair big blue eyes long eye lashes totally looks girl and acted girl till her parents separated. Her mother told her all families are different some girls marry girls and some boys marry boys that it's legal in MA. Now she says she is a boy her mother buys her all boy clothes right down to socks. She has always loved to play with baby dolls, store, tea parties, wanted to be a princess. My daughter inlaw says kids get depressed and commit suiside for I'm judging her mothering. At the park someone called her a boy for the way she was dressed she told them she was a girl.
Children believe what they see and hear and accordingly get moulded but it depends on a number of factors like age, family and social upbringing, etc. It all depends on how the 6 year granddaughter reacts to it - either she accepts the suggestions or revolts.
I can understand your predictament. My advice would be to discuss the issue with your daughter-in-law and, if required, seek a psychologist's help.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
