For The Last Month My Husband Has Been Monitoring His

For the last month my husband has been monitoring his blood because of a high glucose of 465 on his last blood work. Today when I checked it the meter read HI which means it was over 500. I thought it must be wrong but I checked the meter with the solution to verify it was reading correctly and it read out 119 which was normal and that meant his was really higher than 500. I checked it several other times and it always was HI. He was put on Methylprednisolone yesterday for a lung infection and it says if you have Diabetes this medicine could change blood sugars. He hasn't been diagnosed yet so he isn't on any meds. He says he feels fine and won't go to have it checked out at the ER. I don't know what signs to look for so my question is what are the signs and should we call the Doctor tomorrow or ER?
