For Acid Reflux In An Infant, Can Changing The Formula Food Similac Advance To Similac Sensitive Help?
my 4 month old has been on similac advance since i weened her off of breast milk. she has been diagnosed with acid reflux. I was wondering if i could try similac sensitive for the spitting up. I have tried thickening the bottles and also formula mixed with rice cereal and oatmeal cereal. It has helped a little, but would like to try this similac sensitive. May i do so? Or do I absolutely need my ped. permission?
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic. Most of the babies usually have gastroesophagial reflux and it is physiological passes of of its own by the time they are 1 year 6 months old. Mean while give feeds in the propped up position and maintain in the same position for half an hour. There is nothing to worry about it. You need not consult pediatrician until and unless the baby loses weight or not gaining weight. Hope this answer will serve your purpose Please feel free to ask any more queries if required Take care Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam MD;DCH Associate professor of pediatrics
