Finding Difficulty In Exercising

I am 60 years old and on no exercise program. My left arm has lost some arm strength, not all but a good bit. It is painful to use it or to reach back for something. Sometimes it hurts whether I am using it or not. What could this be and what type of Dr should I see? This has been going on for two months or more

Hi,
Exercises should be a regular feature irrespective of the age. Age related degenerative changes in joints, especially the weight bearing ones are common.
I think you must have pulled a muscle during stretching or if you have really torn a tendon, then you require to meet an orthopedic surgeon.
You might require an MRI and later on physiotherapy.
Keep a proper exercise schedule and always warm up and do stretching.
Any other queries, happy to help.
Dr. Prakash HM.
