Ends Up Throwing After Food Goes In The Wrong Pipe. Happens Frequently. What Is This Condition Called?

When my husband is eating sometimes, he says it goes down wrong and he ends up throwing up, it has happened in restaurants. It is embarrassing. I have asked him if he thinks it's normal. He said, haven't you ever had anything go down wrong? I said yes, but it doesn't make me vomit. I would say it happens anywhere from 4 to 6 times a year. Not that often but it has been going on for years. Is there a name for this condition?

Hello
Thanks for using health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through what you have mentioned and I can understand what you are going through.
A proper swallowing is a function of a good nervous control by cerebellum and the 9th and 10th cranial nerve. If there is any problemnin them then this problem appears. You shoukd seek a neurologist who can physically examine your husband ones. A MRI scan of the brain should also be good.
Hope I am able to help you with your concerns.
If you have any further queries I will be more than happy to help you.
Wish you good health.
Thanks and regards
