Does Vitamin D Deficiency Cause Numbness In Arms And Fingers?

Slept in weird position night of 6-24-15. Woke up at 1:30am and entire left arm was numb, espeially below the elbow. Went back to sleep at 2am and arm was not fully normal. Woke up at 5:30am and arm and fingers have been numb ever since. Yesterdays lab work shows my Vita D levels are low at 15. Thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The deficiency of vitamin D can cause many symptoms. Common symptoms can be tingling or numbness. This is because because vitamin D is required for calcium absorption which is essential for nerve impulse transportation. So, I recommend to take a supplement of vitamin D. In my daily practice, I recommend to take 2000 UI as daily dosage.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
