Does Tuberculosis During Pregnancy Affect The Fetus?

hi, I had TB n i had taken treatment for that, but i have a child. My doubt is it will communicate to my child? when i am suffering from TB, i did so many tests but everything is normal. Finally one doctor said i am suspecting that you are suffering from TB. After that test it is conformed. but it happen in 2 years time. The problem started at the time of pregnancy in 5 months and it is conformed at baby 1 year 6 months old. TB attacked in back bone spinal cord(D 8 - D 13). But the doctor said it was not communicable. If it is attacked in liver then it is communicable. At the time of pregnancy my husband took total health check up from working company. After seeing reports one doctor said I am suspecting you are suffering from TB. we taken that reports to another doctor, the second doctor said nothing. Don t worry. My Questions are: 1) I think it is communicate to me through my husband? 2) doctor tested my child and there is no TB. is it attack in future ? 3) I did not take medicine (one tablet ) one day of TB Tablets kit. is it a big problem?

Hi,

I will be answering your question one by one.

1.TB can be got from other by prolonged contact, so its possible you might have got from your husband (if he had it ) but we can't be sure from whom did you get it.

2. If your baby is ok now and your TB in treated there is no extra risk that your baby will get it from you.

3. Though TB drugs should be taken regularly, it's very important, however missing a single day is not a big issue.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
