Does Taking Birth Control Pills During Possible Pregnancy Affect The Fetus?
I had unprotected sex with my bf Nov 1st, I didnt get my period, I spotted like 2 days and then thats it. It was the week before my period and then also the two days after i didnt take my last 2 birth controls in the pack because it was put on recall. Today i was supposed to start the new pack but im scared if i am pregnant to affect the baby with birth control!
Taking regular birth control pills (combined oral contraceptive pills) during early pregnancy doesn't appear to increase the risk of birth defects.
So if you think you could be pregnant, take a urine pregnancy test to make sure. If the results say that you are pregnant, then stop taking the pills from your new pack. Have a periodic ante natal check up and start taking iron and folic acid tablets.
If you can't take a pregnancy test right away but still think you may be pregnant, stop taking the birth control pill until the pregnancy is confirmed or ruled out. In the meantime, use another method of birth control such as condoms.
If you're concerned because you took birth control pills before you knew you were pregnant, consult a gynecologist but be assured that there's little risk.
Hope these answer your queries.
