Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 23 years old girl suffering from abdominal tuberculosis (TB) and 1 year medicine I have taking, After taking this I am suffering from acne, which I never used to have before. The doctor told me that it is because I am taking a drug called Isoniazid, which is causing the problem. Is it true? I had a very clear skin and but now I am suffering with more pimples which is making my face worse. Please advise....
Thanks for your query.Yes isoniazid can lead to acne .Although it doesn't come under its normal side effects ,But its drug reaction caused by isoniazid.
I would suggest you to consult your doctor about it ,so that he/she can give you some alternative medicine like refampin with combination to other drugs.
For now what you can do is Wash your face with mild soap twice a day and apply rtinoid based cream like cream containing tretinoin.
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
