Does Sore Throat And Pain While Swallowing Indicate Herpes?

I was wondering if a sore throat could be herpes. I've had a sore throat for a couple of days with pain swallowing. I saw a doctor today and was told it's not strep throat and could just be a viral infection. I'm paranoid and curious as to if it could be more serious than it seems.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain viral infection can lead to sore throat but it is not herpes virus, so you need not to worry about it..
I would suggest you to take a course of antibiotics like Azithromycin to either cure or prevent secondary bacterial infection..
You can take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen.
Do warm saline gargles 3 to 4 times a day..
Suck throat lozenges and chew Vitamin C pellets..
Sip on plenty of warm water throughout the day..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
It will take about a week for the symptoms to resolve..
You need not to worry as it is a common throat infection and nothing serious..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
