Does Significant Presence Of Rh+ Antibodies Reduce The Chances Of Pregnancy?

I recently lost my baby at 9 weeks. I am RH negative blood type. I have had past pregnancies and received rhogram with each. My blood results came back and they stated that I had rh+ antibodies at significant amounts in my blood. That I will never qualify for rhogram again. Does this mean I can never have another child? What are the chances my body attacked my fetus due to my antibodies which resulted in my babies passing? Thanks

Hello,

Rhogam is a drug used to prevent antibodies from forming;. Now that you have antibodies, there are some other more complicated options that will be available to you.
- a) if your baby is rh- too, then you won't have a problem
- b) If your baby is rh+, his/her hemoglobin and your bodies response to the rh antigen in your baby's blood will need to be monitored via trans cranial dopplers. There are now procedures like intrauterine transfusion to your baby that can help improve chances.
- While it is a possibilities that there was an antibody reaction, I would urge you not to assign blame or concern yourself with this.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
