Does Sharp Pain In The Ribs Post Injury Need Medical Attention?

I fell yesterday on carpted stairs and hurt my back and ribs a bit. I just thought they were bruised but now my ribs are giving me a bit of sharp pain. I am a 49 yr old female with arthritis (which has not really been a problem lately). I have cen cal. The pain is not intolerable, can I wait and go to an urgent care tomorrow? Or do I need to go tonight. Thank you

Thank you for posting your query in HCM
This is Dr. Swarnava dattagupta answering your query.
See, chances of rib fracture or dislocation is not much common following such falls though can happen. But muscle sprains are more common and that is probably what happened.
I would ask you to do the following-
Limit and restrict movements
Take analgesics or painkillers
Apply hot compress locally
Get a chest X-ray PA view done

Then you can consult your doctor or visit the ER as you have said.

Hope this was useful.
Regards
