Does Severe Sore Throat With Right-sided Swollen Gland Need Medical Attention?

I woke up this morning after feeling fine yesterday with terrible sore throat on swallowing. Hurts even to swallow water to take Tylenol. swollen gland on right side. Not exposed to anyone with strep as i know of. When should I seek medical attention?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Here are the things that make strep more likely.
Severe sore throat
White patches on the throat
Swollen lymph nodes in the front of the neck
Fever
NO cough
If you have most of these they you likely have strep and should see a doctor. If you only have one or two then it is most likely a viral infection and should clear up on its own.
In any case if you are not getting better or if things get worse see a doctor.
Regards
