Does Red Sores With Pus On Throat Indicate Strep Throat?

Hi, my wife has what appears to be strep. She is too stubborn to go to emergency doctor, but she has red sores with white puss pockets or her throat. She has fever and now those white puss pockets have turned black. She has taken 2 doses of Keflex she had leftover from something else recently. Should I be worried about the black spots?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain red sores with pus on throat is an indication of bacterial infection and turning of black of sores can be due to scabbing..
I would suggest that she should take a proper course of antibiotics and in case if she is taking Keflex she should take it for 5 days..
Anti-inflammatory painkillers like Naproxen or diclofenac can also be taken..
Do warm saline gargles and do steam inhalations..
Suck throat lozenges and chew a Vitamin C pellet daily..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Sip on plenty of warm water..
In case of no resolution in a week or if the symptoms worsen consult an ENT expert and get evaluated..
