It is a progestogen inhibiting the implantation of the ovum into the endometrium, it stimulates the motility of the oviduct and increases the viscosity of the cervical mucus. Postinor 2 mg is an emergency contraceptive preparation that can prevent contraception if one Postinor 2 pill is taken within 72 hours following unprotected sexual intercourse and another one 12 hours after taking the first pill. In some cases, 2-3 days following pill ingestion breakthrough bleeding or withdrawal bleeding may occur that generally ceases spontaneously. Again, prolonged or heavy bleeding may also occur.
