Does Intake Of Xifaxan Help In Treating Hepatitis C?

I have hep c and start my treatmant with Harvoni. My liver have cirossis and my amonia is hi . Shall i take lactulose 15 ml wiht XIFAXAN 550 mg. For lactulose i am pozitiv but drog xifaxan is to treat diarrhea . This is antibiotic to treat ONLY bacterian infectian. My doctor never set i need xifaxan. But pharmacy recomendet

The use of rifaximin is multi purpose as in case of high levels of ammonia, via gut sterilization, bacteria responsible for ammonia production are washed out which helps to lower the serum ammonia levels. Though pharmacist has recommended you the intake of the same, I would recommend you to discuss the pros and cons of the medicine with your treating doc before deciding to consume it.
