Does Intake Of Topiramate 50mg Lead To Frequent Mood Swings?

I am currently taking a relatively low dose of topiramate, 50mg, and I was wondering if it is possible that it can affect my mood. I have only been on the med for about 2 weeks. I seem to be getting very short tempered and much more easily agitated than normal. I am in therapy for anxiety and depression but do not usually have such mood swings.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Topiramate is used to help stabilize the mood so it should help to decrease agitation and short tempers but persons react differently to medication.

If you are noticing that instead of helping to decrease these issues, there is an increase, then you should speaking to your doctor to see if the medication can be changed to one that agrees with you better.

I hope this helps
