Does Intake Of Citalopram 5mg Cause Upset Stomach?

Dear Doctor, I have just started citlalapram 5mgs daily. Recommended by G/entorologist for IBS and depression.(gave me 10mgs D) It seems to b e upsetting my stomach, can this dose do this/? I do think I am sensitive to a/depressants (just could NOT take Endep). I am suffering from what I believe to be mod. bad depression and GAD. Many thanks

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that the small dose is affecting your stomach and causing the nausea but the gastrointestinal effects of these medications normally decrease after a few weeks of use.

This means that if you can hold out for at least 3 to 4 weeks, you should notice a decrease in your symptoms.

If you cannot or the symptoms continue then you can ask your doctor for an alternative.
