Does Increased Dosage Of Thyroid Medication Cause Insomnia?

Hi. I have an underactive thyroid and take 25 mdg of Levothroxine ever day. I have been suffering from increased insominia (take alprazolam 1MG nightly to help with my sleep). TSH was 3.39 in 12/13, now it has risen to 4.9 in 12/14. I have celiac disease and maintain a gluten free diet. However, have had increased irritable bowel symptoms and heart palpitations in past few weeks. Could I be taking too much thyroid medicine? I see my FP next week to discuss. I also see my Endocrinologist in January 2015.
