Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have seen an infectious disease specialist who told me I had inactive MRSA because he did a blood test. However, I keep experiencing sharp pain in places that make no sense to me. Is it possible to have a form of MRSA that attacks your nervous system? I cut my thumb July 30. My PCP insisted my problem was anything but MRSA, so it went untreated for several months until a sample was sent into the lab. What type of specialist should I see?
According to the history you provide you should see an infectionist specialist to evaluate you better especially for MRSA. You should talk with your doctor first.
Regards
Dr.Jolanda
