Does Hip Replacement Affect The Alignment Of The Hip Into The Pelvis?

I am wondering if there might be a connection with a hip replacement and the 26 degree scoliosis? Could it affect the alignment of the hip into the pelvis. I have a 5-level neck fusion and a lumbar fusion. I try to be active - swim and walks but the pain is worse on the side the hip replacement is.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Definitely the scoliosis will have an effect in the intraoperative angular and version placements of the cup during surgery. However the pain could be due to the stem tip impinging on the wall or cup version change etc.I would suggest you to take a X-ray hip and review with the same.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
