Does Hepatitis Cause Severe Hair Loss?

I have recently lost some hair in a larger than a quarter size circle. I was wondering if it has anything to do with my autoimmune hepatitis that I have been diagnosed with or it is just something all on it own. Also I think I have contact dermatitius I get small little blisters on my hands and feet that are at times painful and itchy. What can I do to help relieve if not get the blisters to go away.

Hello,

As per your case history of hair fall and contact dermatitis, my treatment advice is -
1. Any major body disease can cause hair to fall. So hepatitis can cause hair loss.
2. Take an iron supplement and vitamin b12 supplement once daily for three months.
3. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like mometasone cream on hand blisters.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
 Dr. Harshit Bhachech
