Does Having Unprotected Sex Post Childbirth Cause Pregnancy?
So I gave birth on April 30th this year I got my first period July 3rd it ended on the 7th had sex with my husband on the 8th around 3 am and he didn t pull out so later on when we woke up I took the plan b pill around 8 am six days later I spotted a bit from the 14-17 we did have sex on one of those days and he ejaculated in me once again in me not knowing that sperm can live up to 5 days in me we were not able to get another plan b pill so we blew it off now I m waiting on my next period. Was wondering what is the possibility of being pregnant again? I m so nervous. Have been having a lot of cramping, headaches, & some nausea.
A woman can conceive around 6 weeks after childbirth. The second episode of unprotected intercourse may have fallen in the period of possible ovulation, as can be calculated from your last menstrual period.
On the other hand, not every unprotected intercourse results in pregnancy so I would advise you to relax and wait for the next period. If your period is later than usual you will need to have a pregnancy test.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
