Does Food Poisoning Cause Lower Abdominal Pain, nausea And Loose Motions?

My wife is having pain in her lower abdomen. She felt nauseous and vomited only saliva. She had a solid stool followed by a more fluid stool. She is due for her monthly period, but she says this pain is much worse than she has ever had before. We were at a barbeque last night, so I am wondering if it could be food poisoning. She said she feels a little bit better than she did only twenty minutes ago. What do you think it is?

Hi,

Yes, this can be a sign of food poisoning. Just take Acetaminophen to control abdominal pain or any fever. Drink enough fluids to avoid dehydration and take rest for two days. If not improving by then, we can evaluate further.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
