Does Fluid In The Mastoid Cause Swollen Tongue And Headache?

Fluid in the mastoid was found by an MRI which I was given because of possible TIA. My symptoms were swelling of the tongue, Continual headache, sore throat and similar symptoms in Dec. The MRI was normal for the TIA . Are my symptoms that of the fluid in my mastoid. I am taking an antibiotic, Amoxicillin for an infected sore on my foot. Will that clear up the mastoid fluid also

Hi,

The fluid found in the mastoid is not responsible for the swollen tongue and and sore throat issue. It may at times cause some headache, but I wouldn't think it likely to be the cause honestly, headache due to mastoiditis has other accompanying symptoms, I think it is more likely a coincidental finding, a remnant from a past ear infection. As for whether Amoxicillin may help to clear it up, yes it may help but not necessarily, depends also on used dosage and responsible organism.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
