Does Eating A Fruit Worm Cause Any Illness?

I was eating a grapefruit and I took a bite of a piece and it tasted weird then I noticed in another piece there was a black worm. I think I ate half of the worm and then I made myself vomit thinking it might come out but not sure if it did. Do I need to go to the hospital?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If you don’t have any symptoms like vomiting, abdominal pain, then no need to go to hospital. As of now no treatment is required. Drink plenty of water and you can do your routine works. In case of any symptoms like abdominal pain or vomiting, you can consult a GP for evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
