Hello,

I can understand your concern. Cysts are fluid filled swellings that are benign/harmless. In most cases, they are left without treatment if they do not cause discomfort to the patient and are not infected. There are many cysts which are benign and may have stone-like calcified structures within it. Having stone in cyst does not mean it is cancerous. So do not worry about it just because they found calcified structures within cyst.

The confirmation of presence of cancer in any area of the body is based on the biopsy of the area and lesion involved. You have failed to mention what part of your body is involved. However, if your surgeon decides to remove the cyst with the surgical procedure, histopathological analysis of the removed cyst in the laboratory will confirm if you have cancerous changes in your body.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM. Let me know if you have follow up questions.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
