Does A Vegetarian Child Have Enzymes To Breakdown Meat Protein In Adulthood?
I was wanting to know, if an infant/child is raised vegitarian, can he/she develop the enzimes to break down protein after they become an adult? If the child is a vegitarian and decides to stop, can they start eating meat and have the ability to digest those proteins?
Hi, thank you for using health care magic. I can understand your concern. Human body use various enzymes(proteases , peptidases ,nucleases ) to digest protein and it does not matter weather it is meat protein or vegetable protein. so if your child later decide to go for meat protein he/she will do fine. Enzymes to digest protein are secreted mostly from pancreas (stomach also help in some amount)and as long as pancreas is working well digesting protein would not be a problem. Hope this will be helpful. Regards.
