Does A Sinus Surgery Cause An Altered Sense Of Smell?

I recently had sinus surgery which was successful according to my ENT. I had suffered from “smells” before the surgery, like smelling gas In the house. It went away after the surgery. Now two mo later I started smelling something like vinegar. Very annoying. Does this happen even after surgery?

Hi,

No not always. What you can try is alkaline nasal douching. You would need to clear up the clogging in the nose and give a good nasal wash. That would help. Also, increase Vitamin C in your diet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
