Does A Hit On The Head Caused By A Fall Need Medical Attention?
I am 72 years old, and just fell backwards in a hallway, landed on my left buttox & hit the back of my head really hard on the door facing. This raised a big goose egg immediately & now there is pain spreading all around it. Is there any reason to go to the ER for an x-ray, or just rest for a while?

The goose egg is a hematoma--a pool of blood under the skin. That will resorb in time.
While you'll probably be fine, since I can't examine you, you should have a doctor take a look to see if you might need x-rays to check for a fracture
