Hello Sir, I have one question regarding to my friend's son. My friend's son is suffering from Down Syndrome. He also has Thyroid. He is now 5 years of old and he is not able to speak properly. He is active child but because of his behavior we can't live him alone. His teacher said now he will be join which class where mental retarded children and handicap children are studying. This thing is very worrying for us. We don't want this because we know it's create problem of him. He will not recover for this decision and he will not learn anything from there. Regards

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for asking.
I can understand your concerns.
In my opinion all children should have inclusive education in the mainstream classes. Even the government has laws regarding this that a child should not be refused mainstream education because of his special needs.
If the school authorities refuse then I would suggest you try another school.
Also for his hyperactivity and behaviour I suggest you consult a Developmental and Behavioural paediatrician for detailed assessment so that he can prescribe appropriate therapies and medications for him.
I hope I have helped you.
Thank you
