Does A Bump On Knee Caused By An Injury Heal On Its Own?

Two weeks ago I tripped on an uneven sidewalk and injured my right knee. I cleaned off the blood and applied ice. The injury healed and the scab came off today. However, there is still a bump on my knee. I m not in any pain and walk normally. Will the bump go down by itself or should I seek treatment?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a hematoma. It is nothing but a collection of blood underneath the skin. In most of the cases it will settle by itself. You can apply cold compresses for faster recovery. If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedic and get evaluated. An ultrasound scan is required to confirm the diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
