Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I took my sertraline HCL (Zoloft) before I got home from the pharmacy no water. My mouth was burning so bad I had to find something to eat and drink fast. My stomach has been not right for several months. I am thinking if this burns my mouth so much how can it be good for my stomach. I am planning to quit the Zoloft all together. Larry
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain Zoloft [Sertaline] that is an anti depressant is not seen to cause burning sensation in mouth but in case if you have taken it without water there is a possibility that it has caused irritation in the mucosa inside the mouth leading to burning sensation.. I would suggest you to take the medication with water or milk.. In case if even still it causes burning sensation in mouth you should consult your treating physician or an oral physician and get evaluated and a proper clinical examination can be diagnostic.. As of now you should not stop taking it on your own without proper physician consultation..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
