Does Wellbutrin Slow Down The Weight Loss Process?

I’m doing the Hcg diet and I’m on lexapro and wellbutrin...it seems like my weight loss is slower this time and I’m wondering if it’s because I added Wellbutrin this time around and not just lexapro like I was on when I did diet last year?? I’m doing everything exactly the same as I did last year on the diet but just not dropping like I did before.... any suggestions?? Thank you

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Since Wellbutrin is part of an FDA approved weight-loss medication, it would seem random to say that is the cause. First, note that everyone gains an average of one pound per year from age 20's to 40's and that includes very thin people. This is essentially never taken into account in weight loss analyses and if people return to 1 pound per year higher after being in a weight loss program or if it is harder to lose after a year, this would be the expectation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
