1) Will having a UTI decrease fetal movements? (34w tomorrow & doesn t feel like baby is even moving.) 2) Will the antibiotics cause the movement to slow? Cephalexin 500mg. 1 pill, 4 times a day for 7 days. 3) What else can I try to get the baby to move more?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As a physician I would like to tell you that Cephalexin is a safe drug to take during pregnancy. You need not to worry about fetal movements as they alter many times during course of pregnancy. I would also like to tell you that if you continue to experience decreased movements, visit your Obgy doc as soon as possible to evaluate the fetal heart sounds and fetal scan, if necessary to determine the condition of fetus.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Abhijeet
