Does Tradjenta Cause Kidney Failure?

I had kidney failure after taking Victoza. My dr just perscr54ibed traqdjenta and I have been on it for only 3 days but am feeling sick like I felt with the Victoza. Is this a normal reaction and could I also have kidney failure or problems with Tradjenta since I had it with the Victoza.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Tradjenta is a brand name of Linagliptin and it is a relatively safe drug. It won’t cause renal failure. But prolonged use may cause some impacts on kidneys. You have to check your RFT( renal function test) and urine out put frequently to check whether going in to failure or not. In case altered RFT, consult a nephrologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
