Does Synthroid Causes Excessive Hair Loss?

I have taken synthroid for several years. I am experiencing awful hair loss. Could it be caused by this drug. I do not take any other drug except for a baby aspirin and Tylenol. Tylenol for pain occasionally. I have had blood test and the synthroid/thyroid are with in range. Thank you and is there anything I can do about the hair loss. I am 81 years old.

Hello. Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic. It is highly unlikely for synthroid and thyroid dysfunction to be a cause of your hair loss if your tests are normal. It could be likely due to other factors like some other hormone imbalance or Maybe autoimmune. It is always better to consult a dermatologist for the condition. Thanks
