Does Psilocybin Mushroom Induce Seizure?

I have juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME) my first grand meal seizure was two months ago. Before knowing I had epilepsy I took MDA 3 days after my seizure, did shrooms about a week after, and drank without having started medication/being diagnosed. Similarly, before my first and only seizure I have tried everything from MDMA, LSD, cocaine etc. I am on 100 mg of lamictal daily, do you think taking 1g of shrooms (less than half of my typical dosage) would induce a seizure?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I straight away come to the answer to your question. It is 'No'. Psilocybin is substance in some mushroom which may be used as recreational. It feels euphoric by activating the serotonin receptors. It affects the area in the prefrontal cortex of the brain which usually controls the mood. But it should be avoided since it has addictive potential.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
