Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking generic brand minocycline for three weeks now for mild acne and just today woke up to itchy, irritated skin on my hands, legs and back, when I scratch the itchy areas welts appear. I applied hydrocortisone the itching subsided, and the welts minimized for a few hours. Should I stop taking the minocycline or just tough it out?
Hello, Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query. You are probably allergic to the Minocycline brand. Sometimes it may be the incipient and not the active ingredient in the tablet. In such case, you could try another brand preferably the original. Otherwise you will have to change the antibiotic in consultation with your doctor. Take care
