Does Minocycline 50 Mg Cause Throat Bleeding?

My throat bled after taking one 50 mg minocycline capsule the next morning I had acid reflux and blood cane from my throat area , I thought maybe the capsule hung in one spot in my throat and could have made it bleed. Could this have happened? If so what can be done for it I feel a bump on my throat.

Hello,

Minocycline drug has been known to cause mouth sores in some patients who take it. These would generally be rather painful and you would notice the pain before you noticed blood in your throat.

There is a chance that the medication got caught in your throat and irritated the tissue there. It is always a good idea to take medication while sitting or standing upright with an entire glass of water.

This will make sure the medication makes its way down to your stomach. The bleeding in your throat could be caused by esophagitis from longstanding Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It is best you see your doctor to be evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Alexander Underwood
