I have had IBS for years with constipation. For several years it stopped. I was taking Lexapro at the time. I stopped taking that and now I am having IBS again. I can t have a colonoscopy because my bowel is very twisted. do have barium enemas last one done in spring and 2 years before that and it was fine. do you think the Lexapro could have been helping the IBS or should I be concerned about colon cancer.
Hello, Yes lexapro does help with symptoms of IBS. I would advise stool for occult blood for 3 days to screen for colon cancer - if positive- colonoscopy/ ct colography Hope this helps Regards Dr Samir Patil
