Does Ibuprofen Affect The Efficacy Of A Birth Control Pill?

Few question which I would love to be answered. 1. Is it alright to take the pill with 24hrs of eachother not exactly 12hrs? 2. Dose ibuprofen affect the pill in any way? 3. Within the 7 day relief period is it normal not to get a period? , OR will it be lighter and for a shorter length of time? Hope these can be answered thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are supposed to take the birth control pill at exactly the same time every day that is at 24 hours interval. If you forget to take a pill anytime take it as soon as you remember or take two pills during the next dose.

Ibuprofen does not interact with birth control pill but long-term use of ibuprofen is hazardous to health. Lastly, it's not normal to not get a withdrawal bleeding after stopping the pill though it is alright if the period is shorter and there is less bleeding.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman
