Does ESI Help In Reducing Pain Caused Due To Spinal Stenosis?

Hi...I have been told I had spinal stenosis. I am currently on Plavax since I had a heart attack (three stints) in Oct of last year. My doctor indicated that he could inject something in my spine to relieve my leg pains, once I am off of Plavax. What is the injection and what are the chances of decreased leg pains which currently are around a 6 or 7, but no pain when I sit.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The injection is spine is most probably the type of analgesia through bupivacaine or xylocaine injected in the epidural space of a vertebral column.

* There are very significant clinically proven advantages of the same and your pain intensity would be down to 1-2 from 6-7 at present.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
