Does Aplicare Contain Iodine?

I am allergic to Betadine. I recently had cataract surgery and after my 2nd eye was completed, within 3 hours I had an allergic reaction with severe tearing, pain, swelling of the eye and eye ball itself. I asked what they used for an antiseptic and was told Aplicare. Does Aplicare contain iodine or something similar to Betadine?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

I understand your concern.
Aplicare is Chlorhexidine gluconate. Though it is a topical antimicrobial like Betadine, it does not contain iodine.
It is probable that you are allergic to compounds other than iodine containing ones.
Hope you are better now.
