Does Adderall Help Manage ADHD?

my son has adhd. he was recently put on Adderall. It was fine the first couple of months, but the effects seem to have worn off. His attention is now worse than ever, he can t sleep, he lies frequently and he has severe mood swings, has feelings of hopelessness and is aggressive. I want to get him off it. What are the alternatives without the severe side effects?

Adderall is generally given for ADHD. It is about the main reason it is prescribed. It is FDA approved to help with ADHD. The key point though which established the entire existance of ADHD is that non-ADHD people get hyper on amphetamines like adderall and those with ADHD have a paradoxical lowering of their activity, hyperactivity and get more calm and focused. While people's reaction to medications vary, those without ADHD would be expected to have more anxiety and stimulation and less sleep on amphetamines.
So, might be an atypical reaction to adderall or a very very typical reaction to adderall in someone who DOES NOT HAVE ADHD.
