Doc, My girlfriend is 60 years old and her legs have been very red hot to the touch and somewhat swollen from the knee down to the ankle. She had been hospitalised for cellulitis using acouple different ntravenious antibiotics. After being discharged from hospital she continued seeing her primary doc and he put her on another oral antibiotic. After this did not work he referred her to an infectious disease specialist and as on an outpatient basis she did another couse of intravenious antibiotics. This has been going on for about two and a half months already and she is constantly lethargic and she has two long lasting cold sores on corners where her lips meet. I failed to mention that she had a tremendous amount of water blisters on both legs for weeks leading up to the last round of antibiotics but this is still there but to a lesser degree. I'm very concerned about what is happening to her and obviously because this has not been resolved I'm fearful for her. Other than seeing another doctor, kindly advice what specifically might this be and what can be done? Additionally, If you have specific physician recommendations in our area (Boynton Beach/ West Palm Beach, Florida) this also maybe be quite helpful. We appreciate your helpful advice, Thank you.
Sincerely, Steven Rosse
