Do Tampons Cause An Infection If Left Inside For Too Long?

Hi, Would you have symptoms if you left a tampon in for two weeks? I am pretty positive I took a tampon out on July 22 but not 100% sure and now I am paranoid I didn t. It was the day before the start of my period. I used tampons for the rest of the week while on my period and have not had any issues down there.

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Yes, tampons left in vagina for more than 3 days can cause irritation, infection and inflammation.
So better to consult gynecologist and get done clinical examination of vagina to rule out infection.
Better to use pads instead of tampons.
Avoid moisture and perspiration in private parts. Keep proper hygiene of private parts.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
