Do Spotting And Light Bleeding Suggest Implantation?

Hi! I m a 19 year old female who is frantic to know why my period has been off this month! This is the very first month that this has happened to me, so hopefully it is just a sign telling me that I have an irregular period, which is common for me. But this month has just been strange. 2 days before my period was expected to come on, I was spotting, which is something I normally don t do. And then my period came on a day before. The flow of it was light at first then it gets heavier throughout the day. Which it did. But, the texture and the viscosity of it was the difference. My period is normally a dark red, thick, and has big clots, but this month it is dark red, watery and small clots. I ve read some things on implantation bleeding but I show no signs of that! I had protected sex 4 days after the end date of my last period. I m on day 3 now of my period and it s been dark red, and watery, with a little bit of clotting. What could this mean? Should I worry? Please help me! Thank you!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

This looks normal. Bleeding does not occur if pregnancy occurs. Thus, if you have your cycle, you don't need to worry. Change in pattern of bleeding, less or more, is not uncommon.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
