Do Renal Cortical Calcification Found In A CT Scan Require Medical Attention?

I had an MRI of my lumbar spine in July of 2012. It noted a 4mm renal calcification. I recently had a CT scan of my lumbar spine. It noted a 6mm renal cortical calcification. Is this something I should have checked out since it has grown 2mm in 3 yrs?
